About us

Our journey has started a few decades ago. As a small boy I always watched my dad repairing an old or creating a new clothing part to the practical use in our weather conditions. Maybe in another regions it is not an unusual manner for a man, but for my father, who is not only skilled in every man’s jobs, it is quite normal to be able to do handycrafts like knitting or embroidery. Sheep wool farming used to be mans' job for centuries, from breeding sheep to spinning and knitting. And of course my mum was very essential part of my life as she was born in a beautiful Slovak village called Čičmany and thanks to her mum, my grandmother, I ‘ve entered to the world of embroidery. We have inherited her unique hand-made traditional costumes, which is an extaordinary inspiration for us now. 

The summers spent in the village taught us a lot of our traditions and definitely we fell in love with our local handycrafts. 

It was my dream to keep the traditions not only for these days but also for next generations to be used in practical wearing. Our traditional socks for men are very tough, called “kopitcia”, for women “ nohavičky” and are knitted on 5 needles with 4 colours (white, black, red and yellow or green). With this combination circular knitting requires lots of skills and techniques, and of course patiency.

Now, with my colleagues, we have created many other versions following our traditional patterns adapted in classical clothing. You can explore and enjoy wearing them.
